Born and raised in North Louisiana, I have been interested in creative hobbies and jobs since kindergarten. I got my BFA in graphic design at Louisiana Tech and taught myself photography. I worked at a marketing agency as a graphic designer after graduating, freelanced for a hot minute, then decided stability was the way to go and started working for a great team at GDIT. These experiences brought me perspectives and skills that are still useful to me as a Product Designer. My mission has always been to provide help by understanding root needs, using my innate creativity. By now, I have learned so many skills to do just that.
It was after having twins in April 2020, I dedicated my free time to growing my freelance business, and that became my full-time job until I found GDIT. Why the switch to UXUI, you may ask? ...
To put it simply, I want to dig deeper. Sure, I enjoy graphic design, but I came to realize that I was continuously attempting to inject or draw out humanity in my projects. I crave a humanistic connection to my art, a purpose for what I'm doing, and if there's a possibility to improve anyone's quality of life, I'm interested. I found these attributes and more in UXUI.
Through UX, I can dive into what makes people think, smile, breathe a sigh of relief, or what makes them not notice anything is happening at all. Through UI I can take what I've learned and create a product that someone actually looks forward to using.
To sum it all up, they claim I’m compassionate, a helper, idealist, organized, and both emotional and logical. I see patterns and possibilities everywhere, and prioritize people (but can be a bit of a workaholic too). I prefer structure and order, but that includes balance in my life and the lives of those around me. I’ve been know to play peacemaker and go out of my way to improve the lives of those around me. It's like I was created for UXUI.
